Privacy

The short version

• Your practice is yours. No other player can see it, and nothing is shared unless you make a link.
• No advertising, no trackers, and we don't sell or rent your data to anyone.
• Earshed is for people 13 and over.

What we keep

• Your account: your email, the name you give us, your birth year (only to check the age rule), and your time zone, so your practice lands on the right day.
• Your practice: your songs and charts, the chords you found or missed on each run, your drill cards and how you did on them, your sessions and practice log, your answers to the questions after sign-up, and what the keyboard check showed.
• How you pay: if you subscribe on the web, Stripe holds your card. We keep only your plan, its status and Stripe's customer number. On iPad, Apple handles payment and tells us whether your subscription is active.
• Signing in: a hash of each device's session, so a copy of our database can't be used to sign in as you.

Earshed reads the notes you play to check chords. It doesn't record audio from your microphone.

Who else handles it

• Stripe takes web payments. Apple takes App Store payments and, if you choose it, signs you in.
• Google signs you in if you choose it, and serves the page's fonts.
• Resend sends our emails: sign-in links, and the weekly page for your teacher if you turn it on.
• AI models (through Novita) arrange your plan and put chord facts into words. They get your goal, your songs, your practice time and your keyboard check results, never your name or email.
• YouTube plays the recordings you add, under Google's own privacy terms.
• Dropbox, only if you connect it to open charts from there.

What a teacher sees

Only what you send. The page before your lesson is a link you make and control: you choose what it shows, it expires, and you can turn it off at any time. It shows your practice days and minutes, songs chord by chord, drills that keep slipping, the questions you've written for the lesson, and your last assignment. It never shows your email or your other songs. Pages you share are marked so search engines don't list them.

When the iPad app's teacher studio opens, a teacher will see the students who have joined their studio, and only while they stay in it. This page will say exactly what, before it happens.

Links you share

A chart link for the band shows that one chart to anyone with the link, and nothing else. Stop sharing and the link stops working at once.

The waitlist

If you join the list for the iPad app or the teacher studio, we keep your email and which list you joined, and write when it's ready. We don't use it for anything else. Ask and we'll take you off.

Children

Earshed is for players 13 and over. We ask for a birth year when you sign up and don't create accounts for anyone younger. If you think a child under 13 has an account, tell us and we'll delete it.

Your data, your call

You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, have it corrected, or have your account and practice deleted. Write to hello@earshed.com from the email you sign in with. Going down to the Free plan never deletes anything.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect.
